THE CHERRY TREE – BY RUSKIN BOND

The Gist

The book is about a wonderful story of a Cherry Tree and a six-year-old boy Rakesh. He lives with his grandfather at his cottage on the outskirts of Mussorie.

One day while returning from school, Rakesh bought few cherries and shared them with his grandfather. He asked his grandfather if the seed was lucky for him. His grandfather replied ” Nothing is lucky if you put it away. If you want luck, you must put it to some use.” So he planted the seed in the ground.

The seed turned into a shoot, then to a plant, and to a fine tree. The cherry tree had to face many challenges during its growth. Rakesh and his grandfather took great care of the tree, embraced it, and compared the feeling of joy to God.
